1. Severus Snape, hawt or not?

You seriously need to ask? This is me we're talkin' about here. But allow snaples, lilyevans_snape, rag-dolly-anne, MARiKaArt, perselus, and Patilda to illustrate my point for me. 'Nuff said.

2. When did you first realize you were a Snapefan?

Define that. In the obsessed sense I am now, not until after DH, but I always thought he was a cool character (I first read SS/PS in 2001, just before the film came out) and somewhere around PoA or so I shifted from identifying with Harry to identifying with Severus.

3. I understand you're bringing your husband to Azkatraz? What does he think of your involvement in the HP fandom?

*shrugs* I think he mostly thinks it's cute. He likes Harry Potter okay himself and is capable of holding basic discussion about it, although he is not anywhere near as overly familiar with it as I am. He's read some of my het stuff which I sometimes feel a little weird about. He has this journal friended although he almost never comments in it (but then he essentially never comments in my other journal either, and why bother when he can just turn his head and talk to me, yanno?).

4. What is your favorite adult beverage?

Probably single-malt Irish whiskey (yes, it does exist, and is getting more common in the US) although cider is not far behind.

5. If you could change one thing about the HP series, what would it be?

JKR could really have used the services of a plot beta. I know that's kind of cheating as that would (hopefully) have resulted in more than one change, but let's call it one aspect. DH especially needs work and while HBP happens to be my favourite book, I can see where people are coming from when they complain about it in ways that seem to presage the problems that crop up in DH.

You know, as Potions masters go, even if I were the average kid/person/whatever who wasn't swooning over Severus...

Crossposted (sorta) to azkatraz_ssle. If you are going to Azkatraz and would be interested in this meetup, you may wish to join that community. I will probably use it to take a preliminary headcount around the 15th of July (although I am really only expecting a small group).

I received an email from the flock coordinator asking me to confirm the details I had submitted, and I chose to take the opportunity to make a slight change in the starting time for the Sev/Lily meetup to give it a bit more breathing room vis-a-vis the azkatraz_snape meetup starting at 4 PM. I couldn't bring myself to go as far back as 1:00, but the meetup will now be beginning at 1:30 PM.

These are the details:

Flock: Severus/Lily Meetup

Theme: Fans of the Severus Snape / Lily Evans (Potter) 'ship. This will be a casual discussion meetup with no particular activities scheduled (none planned as of 6/15/09, anyway). You can join us for lunch or just drop by for a drink or a coffee. If you like Severus and Lily together, we'd love to see you there!

Date/Time: Friday, July 17th, 1:30 PM (no set ending time, but we're likely to be gone by 4 PM)

Cost: No space cost, but pay for any food or drink yourself (see menu on the restaurant website, link below).

Location: Lefty O'Doul's, 333 Geary St between Powell & Mason (about 3-4 blocks from the hotel). Google map for walking directions from the hotel to the restaurant. (Please note that the walk up Powell St. is uphill, although it's not the worst San Francisco has to offer.)

I seem to be going through some sort of bout of depression lately. If I say anything to you that sounds cranky(-ier than usual) or butt-hurt/drama/flouncy or otherwise extra whiny in its frustration or despair, please to be cutting a little slack. It's taking most of my mental spoons not to freak out or break down crying over failures and being a disappointment to all and sundry lately.

Disclaimer: Do not take too seriously. I am not necessarily saying the fics in question are bad ones. Sometimes they are horrible, but more often they are just mediocre, and sometimes quite okay, but they all had something in their summaries that I found goofy, misused, or amusing in some other way.

(@!&#(@!!! Apparently the release of the IMAX version of HBP has been pushed back to the 29th of July, except for one theater in NY and one in LA. Not that the Metreon can't screen regular films, but damn it, I paid extra for those tickets with Azkatraz!

FYI for anyone who may have been thinking of buying a house tie from WizardTies, my advice is email first and ask if they have what you want. Earlier this week, when I had got no product and no update for a month after I ordered, I emailed to ask if there was a problem, and they said that they were seriously considering shutting down the business because of lack of profit (basically). They're testing out some kind of silk scarf thing but they don't have the ties in all the houses' colours in stock because they haven't had them remade by their custom supplier (I had to take a blue/bronze book-color Ravenclaw as a substitute for a blue/silver film Ravenclaw, although they still had Slytherin). That this is not evident on the website is annoying enough, but I wouldn't mind so much if they'd immediately contacted me after I ordered. Instead they left me dangling and I had to ask them about it. That said, once I did, the resolution was swift and the shipping happened the same day. Still, though: caveat maga/magus.
